DECLARATIONS OF ALLYSHIP

At our live events, Bursting Through creates a safe space for connection between LGBTQ+ Allies and those they love. That connective space is our Wall of Allyship, built by Declarations of Allyship.

What are Bursting Through Declarations of Allyship?

Declarations of Allyship are personal truths of love, compassion and empathy from LGBTQ+ Allies like you. At the Wall of Allyship, Allies learn that 55% of the adult U.S. population self- identify as Allies of the LGBTQ+ Community and 9.3% self-identify as LGBTQ+. 


For many Allies, this is the first time they realize they are in the majority. Armed with this information, Allies share what Allyship means to them in a Declaration of Allyship, which is then added to Bursting Through’s Wall of Allyship. 


By contributing their Declaration of Allyship to the Wall of Allyship, Allies become Bursting Through Messengers. 


Who are Bursting Through Messengers?

They are open-hearted, articulate, and fierce LGBTQ+ Allies who make Declarations of Allyship at Bursting Through Live events.  They either love someone who is LGBTQ+, are part of the Queer Community, or both. The only requirement to becoming a Bursting Through Messenger is love in your heart and the desire to share that love broadly. 


Why do Allies become Bursting Through Messengers?

     Allies become Bursting Through Messengers because they need to be heard, witnessed and connected through love and shared humanity. They have something very powerful in their heads and hearts that needs to be captured, put into words and made available to the world. 


WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF DECLARATIONS OF ALLYSHIP?

Each Declaration helps create the caring and connected society we all deserve. Each Declaration is a physical representation of a safe person and safe space for anyone LGBTQ+. 


WHAT HAPPENS TO THE WALL OF ALLYSHIP AND DECLARATIONS OF ALLYSHIP AFTER LIVE EVENTS?

Every Declaration of Allyship is added to Bursting Through’s Declaration of Allyship Library. To date we have over 700 Declarations of Allyship! These are shared via our media channels. The big vision is to transform them into a powerful traveling art installation. 


This installation will travel the United States reaffirming that our collective love, values, and desire to live in a connected society are stronger than the hate we now face.

     Bursting Through isn’t a nonprofit—it’s a storytelling movement and media company for marginalized communities and their Allies across the United States. We began through the lens of LGBTQ+ Allyship, but our work has evolved to embrace all communities too often silenced, dismissed, or pushed aside.

    As a media company, we use storytelling to spark courageous conversations, grow compassion, and ignite change. Bursting Through partners with individuals and companies ready to turn intention into action and co-create a culture rooted in our shared human experience.
